Rematch Wilson vs. Mack

Their first fight for the Professional Kickboxing Organization's (PKO) Light-Heavyweight World Championship is legendary known to be one of the most exciting fights in the history of transcontinental fullcontact title matches. Back on March 18th 1989 Germany's Ferdinand Mack dominated eight out of ten scheduled rounds in front of 5000 spectators in Berlin's Deutschlandhalle. Wilson scored hard body punches in round nine to win the title by TKO just seconds before the end of round 9.

28 years later, on June 18th 2017 the former contenders met up again for a rematch. Wilson, 63, and Mack, 57, agreed on a 5 round exhibition match in Simmern during the International German Championships of the WKU organization. This time around without scorecards, just for fun.
Considering the age of both fighters both put up a superior show with solid kicks and punches. No weaknesses were shown and the sparring match was harder fought than the German title fights of the day. Both fighters wore protective gear to demonstrate much protection can contribute to a longer life span of an athlete's career.
Don "The Dragon" wore his Top Ten Headguard just like both fighters wore in their first fight.

Movie Blog

Scifighter Movie Poster with Lorenzo Lamas

After searching for new Don Wilson Movies the other day I found a wordpress blog about his first ten movies that were either martial arts or vampire related. Amazon offers many of those old movies packed as a discounted Dragon pack for 39 US$ including shipping of DVDs. I guess fans are waiting for more new movies to come out soon. Let's see how this plays out. There are rumors about 'The Dragon" participating in Sylvester Stallone Expendables 3 next year where Don is supposed to fight with Jean-Claude van Damme for the first time on silver screen.Well, it's all just rumors, but hopefully it will become reality.

TopTen Sponsorship

In 1989 Don Wilson visited Berlin, Germany for the very first time and met Georg F. Brueckner, the father of European kickboxing and owner of TOP TEN sports. The photo on the left represents the first photo of WKA kickboxing world champion Don Wilson wearing Top Ten safety gear and pants. The image was taken shortly before Don fought for the PKO world title against German Ferdinand Mack, who at that time was WAKO's most famous and successful amateur kickboxer worldwide. The Dragon won this fight by TKO in round 9 after Mack, who was leading the fight by points, was hurt from solid body punches by his American-Asian opponent.
